How do I found lender’s contact info for a short sale property?

property sale

I don’t feel my agent is working on my behalf, because his story changes every week. Plus, I had some talks with the listing agent, and by reading the “writing on the wall”, I think he is very incompetent. Anyhow, I would like to contact the bank myself.
How can I find out the contact info of the loss mitigation department of the bank that is reviewing the short sale offers on the property in question?

If your agent is allegedly negotiating a short sale, then I’m presuming there’s a foreclosure action pending: Contact the foreclosing attorney’s office today; if you are Not represented by counsel, they can talk directly to you. That attorney’s office should be able to either give you the workout/loss mit. dept of their client, Plaintiff bank/servicer , or act as liaison to forward your request for figures directly to the lender. They will not and cannot act on your behalf, but should at least be able to do that.
OR: post the name of the Plaintiff bank and the state you are in. Someone on this forum may already be dealing with that very department and would have the info you need …

It would not be legal for them to talk to you anyway.

They will talk to the owner of the house and the sellers RE agent. Period.

Nothing will be discussed with you, it would be a complete violation of privacy laws.

With a short sale, the agent is only supposed to follow up once a week. Short sales usually take at LEAST 3 months to be approved, and this can be MUCH MUCH longer right now. There is nothing your agent can really do about it, the only one who can hurry things up at all is the listing agent, not the buyers agent. If you are not willing to be patient, I suggest ONLY looking at non short sales. Even foreclosures can go quicker, and are eligible for the “Neighborhood Stabilization Program” Which gives you an interest free loan to fix up the house. Ask your lender about it.

No unfortunately there is nothing your agent can do, I offered on 4 short sales that took FOREVER for them to say they had a higher offer. This one went through because the LISTING agent got the bank’s PRESIDENT’s number and got it pushed through. Please don’t blame your agent.
